The only place I can figure out that the Cam will fit is on the end. The third image is of the housing lifted back into position. The load selector is in the lower position. You can see the Roller (load selector) Link that the cam is supposed to mate into. The second image is the rockshaft housing, upside down. The first image is the Cam Follower sticking up out of the transmission case. According to the manual we have, this JD 1640 (and a 2040) have a closed center hydraulic system that is the same as the 2240. All it says is to make sure it mates properly. The manual only has diagrams of the load control mechanism in the bottom with the cam at the top, and the control valve linkage in the rockshaft housing top, but no information on exactly how the cam positions into the selector link when you place the top back on. Unfortunately, we don't have that information. Question on the proper placement of the Cam Follower into the Roller (load selector) Link: Does anyone have a pic or diagram of how it actually mates? We have the Rockshaft Housing top off, and the manual says simply to reinstall in the reverse order of how it was removed.
